Shameful

When I created this blog I knew it was going to be a place for me to vent. The problem was there are so many thing one can vent about I didn't know what to start with. I think I will start with something that is a big topic of today, the Anti-Gay movement here in the United States of America.

The United States of America, the greatest country on Earth. Even through all her faults she is a thing of beauty, a beacon of hope, truly the land of opportunity. America aids those in need, protects them which cannot protect themselves, and liberates the oppressed. In lands on the other side of the globe America stands ready to defend the weak, and never has she turned anyone away from her embrace.

Yet today, here, within her borders, right here under Lady Liberty's skirt, there is the shameful persecution of a people going on in a public forum. Gay rights is an oxymoron in the United States, even more so than "health care". Today American citizens are being denied their rights. End of story.

This blog is not to sway anyone that disagrees with the homosexual lifestyle to agree with it, nor am I, the writer gay. Ever since I left a vagina I just wanted to be back into another, see that's how straight i am, i make insecure overtly macho/ borderline inappropriate jokes after affirming my heterosexuality out loud in an attempt to further show my total non gayness. Nope, every bone in this body is 100% American Hetero.(see ? have i proved it yet? i can crank out some push ups if needed.) But i digress.

This blog is about watching my fellow countrymen agree on one hand that Mel Gibson is a bigot because, well i mean obviously the guys racist, and that his hurtful hateful words have no place in our society, but are quick to discuss whether his rights were violated and are worried if his leaked tapes are a part of an extortion plot against him. That's beautiful to me. We disagree with Mr. Gibsons' syntax, mindset, and treatment of women, but we will stand to make sure his rights are protected. So why aren't we protecting the rights of our own whether we agree with their lifestyle across the board? We allow KKK rallies to assemble in public areas, we allow protests of any kind, and festivals supporting any cause! We respect the rights of those we do not respect, like, and in some cases down right abhor, Thus is our way of life.

Same sex marriage is a matter of religion. If one has the freedom of religion then what is the problem? I don't think we should even be taking it to the levels it has gone. It is an issue that the opposition is making an ocean out of a puddle ("people who speak in metaphors should shampoo my crotch" if youre wondering what that is, it's me trying to cure myself of this horrible habit. unfortunately i doubt i can stop). Religion, the (i dont even know what this means) "Institution of Marriage" (there's a marriage institute? is it like ITT Tech? do you pay dues? wtf?), the family structure, the future of humanity, i mean i can go on and on but i wont, are not in danger and are not a factor in this equation.

At the end of the day we are denying fellow Americans their rights. Nothing else matters. And we should be ashamed of ourselves for having to tell our grandchildren that we lived in a time that there was room for bigotry, space for hate, and we stood impotent as our countrymen(and women) endured the shame of having to fight for everyday rights. Yes the shame. Because when anyone that has to beg/fight/plead/ASK to be treated the same as everyone else should be ashamed to do so and we should be ashamed it happened.

So i urge you, my countrymen, to stand together in opposition of those who seek to deny ANY person their rights.

Sweet land of liberty...means we all have a lil sugar in our tank.
